Our stay on the Serenade of the seas we wanted to be on deck 4 because we thought it would be a good location to get everywhere on the ship. I was concerned that we might hear music and people, as our room was near the Centrum with music and customer service, but we didn’t hear squat!
Room 4560 was basically right next to customer service and near the R bar. One deck up the stairs was the coffee shop “Latitudes” Deck 5 contained all the specialty dining, bars and the casino, so it was a good location.
There were 3 of us in our room and I think we could have easily accommodated a 4th person as there were 2 pullman beds that come down from the ceiling. , but there was plenty of room and it was nice to have a view of the ocean. It was nice to wake up and see if we were in port or not. Of course, we couldn’t see much once the sun went down!
Serenade of the Seas is an older ship, so there were no USB ports but we bought a cruise specific charger for our phones and charged them at night. The room was well lit and comfortable. Our only issue was the shower, we had a hard time getting the hot water to engage, so most of our showers were lukewarm. We had maintenance look at it twice, and they said nothing was wrong with it. I don’t know if it was a safety issue or the controls.. I would have preferred two knobs– one for hot and one for cold just like the sink – instead of one controller that we couldn’t seem to mange to consistently get hot water out of. I would say 75% of my showers were in luke warm water. The water pressure was great though.
I can’t imagine being the Serenade of the Seas on a World Cruise.. the ship is too old in my opinion. They should make a new ship a similar size that can go to these ports. That way the rooms can have updated amenities.
